Just a quick front page update regarding the upcoming union meeting on Nov 8th 2023 at BMHS. Al and myself will be off on union leave Nov 8th to work on some bylaws, as well as scheduled meetings with management.

Well it is that time of year when local 824 goes into the much needed summer break.

Bus drivers are off enjoying R&R time with loved ones and catching up after a very long road trip. Custodians and maintenance enter the summer excited for the vacation after a year with many changes and challenges. Cleaning and maintaining the schools this summer has always been the goal, with the mindset of getting them ready for the staff and students to return.

 The executive would like to say  THANK YOU!!! 2022-2023 was a success and we can thank our members for helping make it happen! It could not have been made possible without all the hard work and effort put forth by YOU the members. Schools and education can not run without our smiles and tears so please give yourselves a big pat on the back and we look forward to seeing you all September at our union meeting and in the 2023-2024 school year.

June 17th We at CUPE Local 824 honored our Retirees. Ranging from 6 years right to 41 years we thank you all for your dedication and service to your job, From driving bus to the custodian world we are sad to see you go but are super happy to see you retire! We wish you the best at 824 and hope to see you around. The 1st annual 824 BBQ was a huge success and thank you Iris (President of 1253) for coming and meeting all who came!

Come join CUPE local 824 at our 1st annual BBQ being held at Bessborough school on June 17th 2023 from 1pm until 4pm. We will have games with prizes for the little ones as well as honoring our retirees for all their dedication over the years. We look forward to seeing you all there!
